Seven Lao Folktales
Folktales serve many valuable functions in a society. They pass wisdom and culture from one generation to another. Stories told in the evening create lasting bonds between children and their parents or grandparents. They develop imagination and encourage a child to think about moral issues. When children begin to read, they are especially motivated to read their favorite fairy tales.
The seven traditional stories here include "The Wizard and the Beggar" and "The Great Boaster."
retold by Big Brother Mouse staff, illustrated by Seng Xaysawan, Lengly Herchualy and Kongsoua Sengli This book was made possible with support from Heather, Jacek & friends in the USA. Thank you!
