Launching a Reading Program: For our reading program, we give enough books to each classroom in the school so that children can read every day. Often called "Sustained Silent Reading", this approach develops reading skills, a love of reading, and a habit of reading. We launch the program with a book party, show here. For one full morning or afternoon, our team reads aloud, talks about books, leads outdoor games, and teaches songs about books and reading. At the end, every child gets to choose a book of their own, in addition to the books we leave in the classrooms.

This event was sponsored by Brian & Gerry Warren (Australia). Thank you!

This is the 470th book party sponsored by Manoj Paul. No, that's not a misprint. No other individual has come close.

But you can help too. We can start a new reading program in a school only happen when someone, somewhere, steps forward to sponsor one. It costs just $400 USD to start a schoolful of children on a lifetime habit of reading. Or $200 will co-sponsor a program, with the other half paid by another donor, or by the village. (Where villages are able to pay half the costs, we ask them to do so.)

Donations have recognized charitable status in the USA, Australia, the UK, and Switzerland; please click here for details.
